What is the purpose of unix.st?
It is quite simple actually. I write a script or two each and every day, and I know that I am not alone in doing so. Since I try and live by the rule "don't reinvent the wheel", the idea for a site like this came quite naturally. The idea in itself follows the very simple concepts of Free Software and Open Source. Share.
What should I share?
Share everything, aslong as you are the owner of it, or have the owners permission to share it. May it be a script written in bash, or a small perl-program. Maybe you have written a nice batch-script for Windows or beefed up your eggdrop with some special tcl-knowledge. It doesnt matter what language you wrote it in. Do you think someone, somewhere, sometime might be able to reuse your code or get inspiration of how you managed to solve it? Then, share.
Why should I share?
The reason as to why you share is all up to you. Maybe you want show off your cool skills or your imaginative mind. Maybe you searched for hours after a solution to your problem, but in the end had to write it yourself, thus feel the need to help others. I would of course hope that your wish to share your script is born from the fact that you want to make it easier for others to find the solution to their problem. Or just their wish to get inspired and better their knowledge in scripting. But actually, in the end, I do not care for what reason you choose to share it. Just, share.
